Thai designer Korakot Aromdee founded Korakot International in 2006 with a mission to merge traditional craft with contemporary design while empowering his local community. Trained at the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, he draws inspiration from his environment and natural materials, particularly Seesuk bamboo and hemp rope. His signature technique adapts traditional Chula kite-making, taught by his grandfather, into sculptural and functional works that span art, architecture, and product design.
What began with ten trained artisans has grown into a workshop supporting over sixty people, offering sustainable income and preserving Thai identity through craft. Korakot’s works elevate simple local techniques into refined contemporary creations that resonate internationally, while retaining cultural authenticity. Each piece balances strength and lightness, bringing warmth and organic softness to modern interiors. For Korakot, design is not only a form of artistic expression but also a tool for social impact, heritage preservation, and community resilience.
