MAISON&OBJET
Design Showcase
2025

Discoveries will happen in the 7 unique interior designs of the Maison&Objet Design Showcase 2025. There, 8 of the most recognised designers in the world will apply their talents and imagination to the design of a dedicated space. They come from Paris, Dubai, New Delhi, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Seoul, each inspired by the unique style and culture of their metropolis, and each expressing the current need for “hybrid functions and usages” in hospitality and residential spaces. Each of the 7 living spaces (lobby, lounges, gardens, homes, bars, etc.) is designed in collaboration with major brands and exceptional craftsmen, who put to music the creative visions of the star interior designers.

The Designers

Teo Yang

As founder and creative director of Eastern Edition, Seoul-based Teo Yang established his practice rooted in contemporary expressions of tradition, reinterpreting Korean aesthetics through a modern lens after honing his craft abroad in Europe. His design philosophy is rooted in the theme of contemporary expressions of tradition and locality, seeking to reimagine the essence of Korean aesthetics through a modern lens. His distinctive reinterpretation of traditional motifs has led him to direct numerous spatial design projects including the National Gyeongju Museum and the National Hangeul Museum. He continues to explore Korean heritage through contemporary furniture, blending sensibility, utility, and cultural narrative.

About the Showcase

Hong Kong has always been a city of longing for Koreans. From the influx of foreign culture during the Qing dynasty to the emotions that filled the screens and music of the 1980s and 1990s, its traces have entered our lives in different ways across generations. This exhibition brings those personal memories and affections into the form of a library. Posters, music, film scenes, and collected objects are arranged like books on shelves, where personal taste becomes collective memory, and private collections expand into a public archive. This library is not simply a record, but a cultural portrait that reconstructs the emotions Koreans have carried for Hong Kong. In Korea, the library was more than a place for reading; it was also where people were received, conversations exchanged, and reflections shared. Continuing that tradition, this exhibition’s library invites visitors to enter as if stepping into someone’s study, to share dialogue and contemplation. Here, past and present, Korea and Hong Kong, respond to one another, and we hope the two cities will continue to inspire and connect with each other.

About the Showcase

This design project reimagines a traditional Beijing Siheyuan courtyard home with a Parisian twist. Centered around a serene garden, the design unfolds into five distinct areas: living, dining, lounge, reading, and the garden itself. The spaces reflect a cross-cultural dialogue, blending traditional Chinese heritage with a free-spirited, eclectic French aesthetic.

Each “room” is its own world. Expect an intentional mix of tactile elements, unexpected decor touches, and art-forward accents that nod subtly to Alice in Wonderland’s surreal charm.

A team of collaborators, including a local florist, Elsa Jeandedieu (murals), and Wallpaper Plus (textured walls), brings this layered, playful, and culturally rich design narrative to life.

Aparna Kaushik

Aparna Kaushik, founder of Aparna Kaushik Design Group, is a leading architect in ultra-luxury residential design in India. Her work blends classical proportion with contemporary living, drawing inspiration from Greco-Roman, Mughal, and French Renaissance styles to create timeless, human-centric spaces. Her Delhi-based studio offers a multidisciplinary approach, handling architecture, interiors, and furniture design to ensure a seamless process. At the core of her philosophy is a deep respect for both context and client, to create what she calls legacies. For Aparna, design is not spectacle. It is a quiet, confident pursuit of meaning—spaces that nurture, inspire, and endure.

About the Showcase

Inspired by the measured grandeur of New Delhi, this design project reinterprets the city’s architectural legacy. The curated lounge draws inspiration from iconic buildings like Parliament House and Rashtrapati Bhawan, which boldly merge European geometry with Mughal and Indo-Saracenic craftsmanship. The lounge is a contemporary space that embodies this architectural duality. The design concept uses Indian heritage not as a style, but as a way of thinking—symmetrical, layered, and crafted. The spatial layout subtly incorporates Mughal planning logic, while a material palette of hand-carved stone and woven carpets speaks to India’s living craft traditions. The space is a sequence of distinct zones for lounging, reading, and social gathering, orchestrated along an axis of symmetry to feel both expansive and intimate. This project is a pursuit of cultural clarity, where every detail is purposeful. It’s a space that evolves from heritage with quiet confidence, proving that Indian design, when grounded in its origins, resonates effortlessly with a global audience.

About the Showcase

Hybridization: Garden Wanderings offers a moment of softness within the hardness of modern urban life — a subtle incision in the momentum of Shanghai and Hong Kong. Though shaped by speed and vertical ambition, both cities still harbor unmeasured interludes: a corridor to linger in, a sudden burst of greenery, an afternoon of solitary calm.

The installation creates a sensory journey. As you enter, a dim, textured path with warm flooring, charred bark, and the scent of dried spices guides you. Layers of light, sound, and shadow blur the lines between inside and out and outdoors, creating a dreamlike dérive. It becomes a “Garden of Memory,” where walking recalls fragments of resonance tied to Shanghai and Hong Kong. There are no prescribed paths—just like real city life, which is shaped by chance and divergence. In this gentle ambiguity, visitors are invited to slow down and listen inward. Perhaps a single turn, a soft light, is enough to remind you: you are in the city—and listening to yourself.
